About the College

The St. Mary’s Junior College (SMJC), Basheerbagh, was the first of the five institutions established by the Saint Mary’s Educational Society. It began in the year 1982, as a forerunner in providing quality Intermediate Education. Within a short span of time, the college became the first choice for students in Hyderabad. This lead to the expansion of the college giving way to the second campus in Jubilee Hills in the year 1995.

The college has an atmosphere which helps students grow and develop as multi-faceted individuals. The college strives to imbibe a strong sense of Nationalism that transcends the barriers of Religion and Community. The college strives to identify talent, provide guidance, enhance potential and create world changers. At SMJC, we believe that education is not merely about acquiring knowledge, but also about bringing out the best in a student with regard to their body, mind and spirit.Over the years, St. Mary’s Junior College has grown in both strength, and reputation. Our students have consistently secured State ranks in IPE, EAMCET, IIT and scored admissions in reputed institutions in India, as well as abroad.

The college has spacious classrooms, a well-furnished library, well-equipped laboratories, canteen and parking area. Apart from academics, a wide range of co-curricular and extracurricular activities are offered. Innovative teaching techniques, matchless infrastructure and a committed faculty, make learning at Mary’s more meaningful.

Our experienced teaching staff play an integral role in testing patterns within the prescribed framework. A precise monitoring of the academic calendar ensures a systematic approach to the prescribed syllabus. Students are evaluated by their performance in exams and frequent class tests conducted by the college. Staff meetings, PTA meetings and IRP help in monitoring the overall performance of students.

The college has a unique Mentor – Ward system, which is very effective. The mentors are able to ascertain the strengths and weaknesses of their respective wards. The college organises Orientation programs to guide the students and improve the overall quality and standard of the institution. Orientation programs for freshers at the commencement of the academic year are reinforced through Value Education classes, Mentor – Ward meetings, and Parent-Teacher meetings. We will continue in our endeavour to nurture and enhance the innate wealth of talent and potential in each student.

With a primary focus on quality education, the College promotes and makes available myriad resources and opportunities. The management leaves no stone unturned in providing the best for every student.
